When I saw the cover for Luminosity by Stephanie Thomas in the email from the publisher, Entangled Publishing, I knew immediately that I would be participating in the cover reveal.
This title is one I hadn’t heard of before, but the cover totally captured my interest. And the description definitely makes me want to find out more.
I love the idea that the main character’s enemy comes to her in her dreams and that she somehow may have inadvertently helped him. And I’m super curious as to what secret Beatrice has been keeping that could put everyone in danger.
Luminosity is a YA Sci-Fi/Dystopian and one that I am definitely excited to check out when it releases this fall.
MY THOUGHTS
I love this cover. What first drew my eye was the beautiful feathered, wing-like decoration on the model’s face – the raven’s wings. It, along with the darkly shaded lid, does have a very bird-like shape to it without it being too literal. Even the model has a graceful, bird-like feel to her pose. Which I think is perfect for this book.
And I love the different shades of blue used throughout. The tones are cooler, giving the background a slightly ominous feel. And the blue-tinged skin of the model has an eerie, almost translucent glow to it. It’s… luminous.
The striated skies in the foreground are an interesting contrast to the more hazy fog over the city in the background. I love how they follow the lines of the models upturned face. And the dry, cracked ground makes me curious about just what kind of a world this story is set in.
The font is very unique. I’m not sure I’ve seen one quite like it on a cover before. The shape does lend itself to a Sci-Fi, futuristic novel such as this. And I like how the author’s name is dark over the model’s lighter skin, and light over the darker background.
And of course that tagline gives just enough of a hint about what this book offers where the title itself is more of a mystery.
This cover sold me on the book before I even got a peek at the description.
Anyway… that’s what I think… but what do you think?

ABOUT THE BOOK
My name is Beatrice. When I was born, I was blessed with the Sight. I was immediately removed from my parents and enrolled in the Institution. At the age of twelve, I had my first true vision, earning my raven’s wings. And when I turned seventeen, one of my visions came true. Things haven’t been the same since.
