Month Two

February 15 – March 14, 2012

***

The goal for this second month of the challenge will be to read My Soul to Save.

Goodreads description:

When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.

So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.

Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk….

***

I cannot believe there are over two hundred sign-ups for this challenge. That’s so far beyond my wildest expectations. If all two hundred participants create just one post during the challenge, there will be twenty pre-orders of Before I Wake up for grabs.

As it now stands, even if those who signed up do not create a post, I will be giving away ten pre-orders of Before I Wake at the end of the challenge.

Of course, it would be amazing if there ended up being three hundred or more participants! And it’s not because it would make me smile to know that so many people joined my challenge – though it would – but because Rachel Vincent’s books are unbelievably awesome and I would love everyone to have read them.

What do you need to do?

1. Start reading or keep reading!

If you already started the challenge last month, then all you need to do is keep reading. Even if you read ahead last month, hopefully you held off posting your reviews so you could post them this month for an extra entry into the Before I Wake giveaway at the end.

If you just joined in, or you are behind, not to worry. You can read and post your reviews for My Soul to Take this month or at any month during the challenge. And if it is a re-read for you and you want to skip last month’s read and start with My Soul to Lose, then that’s okay too!

You have all month to read and review this second book in the series to get that extra entry into the end-of-challenge giveaway.

2. Post your review or thoughts!

Whether you’ve decided to post a review, or just create a post with your thoughts about the book, you have until March 14th to do so to be entered into any of this month’s giveaways and to earn an entry into the end-of-challenge Before I Wake giveaway.

3. Leave your link!

Be sure to come back here and leave a link to your post – wherever that may be – Blog, Facebook, Goodreads, Tumblr, etc. If you don’t leave the link, you won’t be entered into the giveaway. LINK MUST BE LEFT IN THE LINKY LIST.

If you don’t have anywhere to post your thoughts or review, please leave a comment with a way to get in touch and if your review (or thoughts) are positive, I’ll post them as a guest post on my blog, Soul Screamers Reading Challenge.

Reviews or thoughts posts must be from January 15 through March 14, 2012 ONLY.

What are this month’s incentives?

Two winners will receive a Rachel Vincent book of their choice ordered from Amazon or The Book Depository

One winner will receive a copy of Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions ordered from Amazon or The Book Depository

One winner will receive a signed copy of My Soul to Steal

One winner will receive a signed copy of If I Die

In case you wanted to know….

Extra Credit Reads

You can post your reviews for any of the extra credit reads at any time during the challenge. Each extra credit read will give you an additional entry into the Before I Wake giveaway at the end of the challenge AND will give you an extra entry into that month’s giveaway.

SO, if you want extra chances to win a specific prize, be sure to hold off on posting your reviews for the extra credit reads until the month of that giveaway prize!

What if I don’t finish the book this month?

That’s OKAY. You can post your review or thoughts next month, or at any time during the challenge. And you can leave more than one link during each month of the challenge.

What if I’ve signed up, but never read any books during the months of this challenge?

That’s OKAY. We all have things in life that sometimes take priority. You won’t be eligible for any of the giveaways without at least one review or thoughts post, but no one will judge you for signing up and not doing anything beyond that!

The fact that you want to read the author’s amazing books is awesome! And whether you read them now, or in the future, you’ll be discovering a series that I think it is pretty amazing.

What if I’ve already reviewed the book?

If this is a re-read for you, you can simply create a post about this book talking about what you found different the second (or third, or fourth or…) time around. If you are a blogger, you can always link to your original review in that discussion post so that people can check out what you thought on first read.

BUT, you cannot simply repost your original review to be eligible for the giveaway. AND you cannot leave a link to an old post. All posts must be created during the dates of each challenge month.

The first book I plan on reading for the challenge isn’t My Soul to Save, so why start now?

If you are starting this month’s challenge by reading any book other than My Soul to Save, you can still post your reviews for that book during this month’s challenge post. It will give you an entry into this month’s giveaway and will count as an entry toward the end-of-challenge Before I Wake pre-order giveaway. But, you won’t get an extra entry for posting your review during the scheduled read month for that book.

While the disadvantage is that you won’t get the extra entry, there are advantages to reading any of the books early and participating now.

One of the advantages to reading it now – and posting a review or discussion post – as opposed to waiting for the scheduled month, is that you’ll be eligible for this month’s giveaway prize. You may also discover that once you finish reading the series you’ll want to go back and re-read those first books – trust me, If I Die is a game-changer and it is very likely that you’ll be interested in doing just that.

So, by participating now, you’ll have the time later on during the challenge to re-read those books and by creating a post be eligible for those other giveaways and get yet another entry into the Before I Wake giveaway.

How are this month’s giveaway prizes going to be decided?

The giveaway winners’ names will be drawn on MARCH 18th.

For this month’s giveaway prizes, Random will be drawing numbers based on the linky number associated with your post.

Each giveaway will be drawn separately.

If you’ve won and you do not wish to receive that prize, the next number on the list that Random drew will be the winner.

And guess what….

Author Rachel Vincent will be conducting spoiler chats after each month’s read for that book only. So, at some point in the second half of March, there will be a My Soul to Save spoiler chat! Check out her blog post HERE to learn more.

If that weren’t enough, she mentions that after the release of Before I Wake, which comes out on June 26, 2012 in the U.S., there will be a discussion and spoiler chat for that book too! How AWESOME is that!?!

So….

Leave your links below for posts created from February 15 through March 14, 2012. I will leave the linky open until March 17th for those who may have forgotten to leave them, but I have to close it fairly quickly so that Random can choose names for the giveaway prizes.

Let’s see those posts!

  1. Yay, its month two! I can’t wait to read your review of MSTTake. I read that Nash’s got you under his spell on Twitter- not good! 😛 Tod’s just gotta win your heart back soon!

  2. Aleksandra says:

I so can’t wait to start this one! At the moment I’m reading a few others, but after finishing them, I’ll definitely start this one 🙂 Thanks again for hosting this challenge, Rachel!!!

  3. Kelsey says:

Technically I read the Omnibus Volume 1, which includes books 1-2 and the short story prequel, so I will include that review this month as well. Can’t wait to continue reading!

  4. OMG!! can’t wait!! I’ll start book 2 this weekend…sloooooow read…because I don’t want to wait too much in between the books 😀
need to savour it until the last drop and drag it for as long as I can so I don’t miss my characters too much!

  5. Laura says:

I really enjoyed reading this one. I’m looking forward to the next one.

  6. Hélène says:

I finish reading the second book and post my review. But before reading the third I like to re-read Reaper.
After reading it, where can I leave my link, in which entry ?

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Hi Helene, were you the one who left a link on the first month’s challenge? It didn’t work – saying the page was disabled. Do you have a link to that review? Your number came up for a Rachel Vincent book of your choice, but because I couldn’t verify the review it was forfeit. But I would be happy to send you one anyway if you leave a link for that one in the comments here so I can update last month’s linky and so you can be counted for the end of challenge giveaway.

You can leave another link in the linky above as long as it goes to a different post or link address. But you would leave it on this month’s post if you reviewed it between February 15 and March 14.

  7. Hélène says:

    Hi, thanks for your answer.

I put my link for the review of the first book here.
It’s on facebook because I don’t have blogs.

    http://www.facebook.com/#!/permalink.php?story_fbid=3070543653139&id=1550060732

    Thanks

  8. Hélène says:

    Sorry,

I put the reaview of facebook because I have no blogs but in facebook only my friend can read my post. So the is not good. I don’t know how I can post my review without blogs.
I post a review on facebook on Januar, 29TH for the first book and on Februar 19th for the second book. But if nobody can read it, I don’t know what to.

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Ah, Helene, that’s why it says the page isn’t there. If you’d like to send the reviews to me pasted into an email I can post them on the Soul Screamers Reading Challenge blog, labeling them “Helene’s Review” and you can use that link to put in the Linky list for the giveaways.

If you’re comfortable with that, I’m happy to do that. Just let me know. My email is Fiktshun[at]gmail[dot]com.

#2 Kelsey’s Cluttered Bookshelf – I had given you credit during month one for the 3 books in the omnibus review. Since your review for MSTSave was posted on February 1st it counted toward month one and not month two.

#21 and #22 Book Travels – I see your post dates are from earlier in the month. I’m so sorry you didn’t add your links last month to get the extra entries. You are given credit and entered into this month’s giveaway however for both.

#38 A Well Disordered Mind – I see your post dates from earlier in the month. Sorry you didn’t get it in last month for the extra entry. But you’ll be given credit for this month and entered into the giveaway. Your entry for MSTSave #39 is within this month’s link dates so you’ll be given the extra entry.

#80 and #81 Heather @ Goodreads – Your reviews were dated March 15, that means the links should be posted in the MONTH THREE Linky List. If you can re-post them there. (That’s the review for My Soul to Take and My Soul to Save) and you’ll be counted for these review in that month’s giveaway. (The cutoff for reviews was March 14.)

#86 Raquel @ The Book Barbies – Because your review was dated March 16, it means the link should be posted in MONTH THREE. The cutoff date for posting was March 14. I only left the link open in case someone forgot to include their links in the list. If you can add your link to the MONTH THREE linky list, it will count as an entry into that month’s giveaway.

Going forward (starting in Month Three) I’m closing the linky list down on the 14th to avoid any reviews posting after the cutoff. So make sure to get your links in by the 14th!
