Soul Screamers Reading Challenge

Well, it’s a brand new year and I thought I’d do something new. Start a reading challenge of my very own. And I don’t think there is a more perfect series that I can pick than author Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series.

Why? Do I really need to ask that? This series is AMAZING.

If you need another reason, well… the timing couldn’t be more perfect. With five full-length books in print in the U.S. and If I Die coming out shortly in the U.K., it works out so that if one book is read each month, the series can be completely read (or re-read) just before the U.S. release date of Before I Wake, book six in the series.

The Challenge

To READ (or re-read) and REVIEW (or post about) all five full-length books in the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent between January 15 and June 14, 2012.

My Soul to Take

January 15-February 14, 2012

My Soul to Save

February 15-March 14, 2012

My Soul to Keep

March 15-April 14-2012

My Soul to Steal

April 15-May14, 2012

If I Die

May 15-June 14, 2012

The Deets

The Soul Screamers Challenge will begin on January 15, 2012 and end on June 14, 2012.

You can join the challenge at any time during the above dates by signing up in THIS POST.

You do not have to be a book blogger to join. You just need somewhere to post your review and/or talk about the books you’ve read (i.e., Facebook, Goodreads, personal blog). If you do not have any of those outlets, and your review is positive, I will be happy to post your review as a guest post on my blog Soul Screamers Reading Challenge.

Books must be read and reviewed between January 15th and June 14th. You can read and review them at any time during the challenge, but each book you read and review during the scheduled month will give you an extra entry into the Before I Wake giveaway at the end of the challenge.

You can read the books in any format or edition you’d like – eBook, audiobook or even in print!

Each month, on the 15th, there will be a post in which you can link up your reviews or posts for THAT MONTH ONLY. You can leave more than one link if you’ve read and reviewed more than one of the books that month.

If you choose to do a participation post, you can leave your participation post link on my SSRC page. At the end of the challenge, those who have added their links will automatically be entered into a giveaway for either a $50 Amazon or Barnes & Noble giftcard or $50 in books of their choice from Amazon or The Book Depository.

If you’ve already read and reviewed all the books in this series, do not fear. Re-reads count as long as you are re-reading them during this challenge! You don’t have to do a new review unless you want to. Just create a post talking about the re-read experience – Was it better the second time around? Did you discover something new that you missed the first time? Did you love Tod just a bit more? There’s plenty to talk about!

The Incentives

Before I Wake pre-order giveaway. For every ten people that actively participate in this challenge, I will be giving away one pre-order of Before I Wake. So, that’s a one in ten chance. (To be counted as an active participant you must sign up through the linky in this post and you will need to have read and reviewed at least one of the full-length books during one of the five months of this challenge.) The winners will be chosen at the end of the challenge.

At the end of each month, to those who have left their links on that month’s post, I will be giving away one of Rachel Vincent’s books to two winners.

Reading each book during the corresponding month will get you an additional entry into the Before I Wake giveaway.

Reading and reviewing (or posting about) one of the Extra Credit Reads (listed below) will give you an additional entry into the Before I Wake giveaway.

New incentives may be added as the challenge progresses. Stay tuned….

UPDATE: As of 1/6/12 at various stages of the challenge there will be giveaways for SIGNED copies of My Soul to Keep, My Soul to Steal and If I Die, as well as T-Shirts and something really special that will be revealed later in the event.

Thanks to the amazing author for donating quite a few of these awesome prizes and for signing all of the rest!

Extra Credit Reads

In addition to the five books for the challenge, there will be extra entries for each of the three Soul Screamers novellas you read. Links to reviews or posts for the extra entry reads should be left on the challenge post during the month you’ve read and posted about it.

So, as always I tend to be long winded. I hope it all makes sense. But I’ll sum it up below. If you have any questions, just leave them in the comments. And don’t forget to sign up with the linky.

In short…

  18. Awesome idea especially since I was already planning on re-reading all of them! I never reviewed them the first time around so I wanted to re-read and review them before the next book came out.

  19. smiling_ina says:

Oh my gosh, I’ve NEVER signed up for anything, but how could I possibly say no to THIS??? 😀

You’ve actually given me another challenge with this. I’m not a blogger at all, but I’m going to try to at least get a few blog posts each month done. I’m not sure what they’ll be about yet, but hey, I’ve finally got a New Year’s resolution. LOL

Thank you so much for hosting this awesome challenge!!! 🙂

Plus this is a great exucse to read the series for… well I’m not sure how many times this will make it, especially if you count how many times I have listened to the audio books at night… especially If I Die (most especially the second half)

  28. Oh my, this idea is totally AWESOME! I’ve been thinking about reading this serie so many times and always kind of started with something else. So this is really great! 🙂

  30. Bella Bunnell says:

What a great excuse(as if I really need one), to read the series I WON on Rachel’s amazing blog! Thank you for hosting such a cool challenge, Rachel! AND, thank you, again for my books!!! This will also be a challenge to get my own blog finally up and running. ;o

  31. What a great challenge ..I have had the 1st book sitting in my TBR pile for sometime now and haven’t picked it up. This was just what I needed!

  32. Hélène says:

    Hi rachel !
I read already the five books in french two or three times, but I’m going to re-read it in english. So this challenge is a good thing.
However I don’t know if I undertsand all the challenge.
We have to read one book in a month, and post our comment. I have no blog, so if I understand well, I can post my comment on facebook, and after give my post’s links on this site (fiktshun)?
Please to answer me because I’m french but I will be happy to do this challenge.

  33. Hey, I love this challenge idea. I’ve just finished the first 2 books so I won’t be joining in (not really ready to reread them in two weeks) but I’ll mention your challenge in my next review. Hopefully it’ll inspire more people to try them out!

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Oh that’s awesome! Thank you so much. If you feel like reading the third book you can enter the challenge. You don’t have to read all the books to participate, and it doesn’t have to be the books being read in that month, you can read any book in any month during the challenge, you just don’t get the additional entries. But even just one read will get you an entry into the Before I Wake giveaway! 🙂

  34. Linda P says:

HELP if you can. I feel like an idiot, I tried to sigh upon the linky link and entered fikshun instead of my blog(i am just not good at this) and when I went to correct it, it said that i couldn’t sign in again, Thanks if you can help.

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Hi Linda – I’ll delete your entry as I’m not sure what link you wanted to include and you can simply sign in again!

  35. I’m in!!! This will hold me accountable to read them! I’ve been trying to read them since the Crush Tourney, but books for review keeping taking precedence! Be sure to ask me on twitter if I’m reading them! Also, this will let me done by the time the Crush Tourment part 2 is here! So excited! What a great idea Rachel!

    • Fiktshun009 says:

You have no idea how psyched I am that you’re doing this! It’s about time you met Tod. Oh yeah, and Kaylee and Nash and Sabine and Emma.

I know what you mean about review books. I’ve taken on (or am trying to anyway) a lot fewer review books. So by April I hope to be just reviewing books for me. Just for awhile. We’ll see how that goes.

I will haunt you on Twitter to make sure you’ve started. And one book a month isn’t too much of a challenge. I think it would have been a lot harder if this was a challenge to read all in one month. An unrealistic one, LOL.

And thanks! If I hadn’t had that convo with Jessica during the Heroine Tourney I never would have had the idea in the first place!

  36. Maggie K says:

I read the Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series a while back. I enjoyed them very much. I am looking forward to reading them again. Some book series are worth reading them twice!

  37. Gina Thompson says:

Hi. Help! I really want to sign up to this, but I’m not sure how! I don’t have anywhere to leave my review, so I was gonna post it on your Soul Sceamers Reading Challenge Blog but I don’t know how to go about it. I’m new to this, and so far not very good at it! Thanks! Gina.
Ps Thank you for running this fantastic challenge! Can’t wait to get reading!

  38. Nicco says:

Is this only open to people in the US? Or can UK posters join the challenge too?

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Hi Nicco! Everyone is welcome to join. And all giveaways are international too! I’d love it if you joined. These books are amazing.

  39. Kalynn says:

I definitely want to participate. This sounds like so much fun. I’ve read all the books, but I’m a huge rereader, and I loved If I Die so much that I’m excited to go back and read the series again.

I’ll post my reviews on Goodreads. I rated the books when I first read them, but I think the only ones that I did written reviews for were If I Die and some of the novellas. This will give me a chance to write real reviews. thanks for sponsoring such a fun reading challenge!

  40. Oh, crap! I really want to enter this challenge but I read the first book – My Soul to Take – around January 10th and posted the review in my blog in January 14th. Do I really need to read again for only one day apart? Or can it, please, count?

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Hi! You can join the challenge even if you didn’t want to re-read the first book by just posting your review for the next book in the series, either this month or next month.

But since it was just a day, why don’t we I say that you can link that review, it will count as one entry, but because it was technically before the challenge it won’t count as an “extra” entry.

  41. anum says:

i have a problem signing up .is it enough that i have taken part in goodreads challenge i will post my comments there.

    • Fiktshun009 says:

Hi Anum, I’m not sure what the Goodreads Challenge is. Do you mean the group that Raquel created on Goodreads? If so, you can write your thoughts for each book on that group of there’s a place to do it. But you would need to leave a link to your Goodreads Profile to sign up here first.

And if you want to be considered for any of the giveaways you’d have to leave a link to that challenge comment each month in the monthly posts here. That’s how I’ll be able to draw the winner’s names.

Otherwise I won’t know if you’ve left a comment or not, especially as I don’t host the group on Goodreads.
